Jakapil kaniukura model
This listing is for an unpainted, unassembled model kit which comes in 5 pieces.
Jakapil’s name means “shield bearer”, and it is easy to see where this plucky little dinosaur got its name - it is covered in bony armour!
Scientists are still debating on where jakapil sits in the dinosaur family tree. Given the age of the deposits of where it was discovered it is too young to really be an ankylosaur ancestor, but neither is it really a stegosaur or anything else. Because of its age, and lack of precursor fossils, its family tree has been given the very cool label of a “ghost lineage”.
We wanted our jakapil to have some personality, so we examined where it would have sat in the local ecology. Given that it was well-armoured for its size, we theorised that while it would certainly run off if a large predator showed interest, it would have generally been a relaxed little creature. That got us to thinking, it would have had the luxury of curiosity.
So our jakapil is posed as if something has caught its eye, tilting its head and looking up slightly as it takes a curious step forward.
We hope you enjoy it!
Materials: The creature and scene elements will be printed in plant-based resin, and the base will be printed in recyclable PLA for a resilient, light structure.
